As Jesus told us, the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy.
The first way this occurs is through negative thoughts that become negative emotions. The enemy tries to erode our faith, belief, and trust. And in these moments, it’s crucial to armor up and fight back.
The battle seems intimidating, but remember: even if we’re on our own, we never fight alone. Billions of believers around the world have fought similar battles and won. And so will you!

What not to do:
Don’t Dwell – Whenever the enemy speaks words of fear, confusion, hopelessness, etc. Do not ponder on these things. Instead, focus on everything you know about God and everything you believe about Him.
Don’t Despair – Remind yourself that every problem has a good solution. And the keeper of ALL knowledge and wisdom will give the answers we need in due time.
Don’t Doubt – When you feel defeated in one area of your life, focus on the areas you feel confident. Then gradually, that confidence will spread.
What to do:
Be Still – Spiritual attacks harm your soul, then your mind, and last your body. So it’s important to pause and take a moment to breathe. (Psalms 46:10 KJV)
Music – Find a Gospel song that speaks to you. There’s a miraculous feeling of peace when we find a gospel song that resonates. (Psalms 13:6 NIV)
Be Honest – You must tell yourself the truth, then take it to God. God wants us to cast our cares on Him. (1 Peter 5:5-10 KJV)
Read Scriptures – Speaking life over ourselves with scriptures is very powerful. And when we use scriptures to combat the lies of the enemy, we’re empowered. (2 Timothy 2:15 NKJV)(Proverbs 18:21 NKJV)(Psalm 141:3 NKJV)(Proverbs 21:23 KJV)(Colossians 4:6 KJV)
Pray – Request what you need; whether it’s protection, peace, hope, a way out, clarity, understanding, etc. (1 John 5:14)(Philippians 4:8)
In Jesus’ Name – Ending prayers in Jesus’ name is crucial. It’s the equivalence of stamping an envelope before mailing it. Also, we can rebuke, bind, and cast evil spirits into the abyss in Jesus’ name. It’s the power and authority we’re given as believers. (Romans 5:3-4)
